Enhancing Education through Technology
The Odessa-Montour School District has improved technology integration with the help of a grant funded by NYS Educational Department. The 2006-2007 school year will bring this funding source to a close, but the improvements we have made will be felt for many school years to come.
Since the inception of the grant, we have been able to update the majority of our computers, give our teachers and staff accessibility to digital cameras, video cameras, LCD projectors, and various technology supplies to allow them to do projects with their students.
Our teachers have had the opportunity to participate in numerous staff development trainings to enhance their technology skills and enhance their teaching.
We have put a computer based report card in place for K-5, so teachers can input grades and print the report cards out for clarity, efficiency, and ease.
Starting in the 2006-2007 school year we will be installing 13 ACTIVboards across our district. Two will be placed at BC Cate, two at Hanlon, and nine at the Middle/High School. The ACTIV technology is an interactive white board that both teachers and students will be able to use everyday with the use of a special pen. This technology will give our students a new, exciting, and engaging way to learn new content and skills.
We will also be installing ceiling mounted projectors to enhance computer related activites a teacher may prepare or to access the internet for educational related uses.
Our students have many programs at their fingertips to create multimedial projects, access lessons, and interact with various educational skill building programs.
At Odessa-Montour we are building a technology and educationally rich environment for our students to become successful and productive citizens by the time they leave our halls.
