Mrs. Tracy Marchionda

District Interim Superintendent

Dr. Tracy Marchionda was appointed as Interim Superintendent in December 2022.  Dr. Marchionda began her educational career as an elementary and literacy teacher for Dundee Central Schools.  She then served as a building principal and Director of Curriculum for the Bath Central Schools from 2000-2011. She continued her career in the Geneva City Schools serving as building principal, Director of Special Education,  and  Director of Innovation from 2011-2022.  Dr. Marchionda retired from Geneva City Schools as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Accountability in 2022.  In her retirement, Dr. Marchionda supported the Hammondsport Central School District as the Interim Director of Curriculum and Special Education until she came to Odessa-Montour.  Dr. Marchionda's work in schools has included literacy, supporting English learners, curriculum development, special education, grant development and oversight as well as district and program strategic planning.

Dr. Marchionda has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SUNY Fredonia; a Master's of Education and a Master's of Literacy from Elmira College; and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.  She is a graduate of the New York State Superintendent Development program and most recently earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction and the Science of Learning at the University of Buffalo.  

Dr. Marchionda lives in Penn Yan with her husband, Doug, and their dog, Larry and cat, Louie. She is the mom to two grown sons and their spouses, Anthony & Alicia and Nick & Laura.  In her spare time, Dr. Marchionda loves to travel, bake, garden and read.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Athena A.C.E. Association supporting women in their pursuit of education.  Her favorite food is anything chocolate and she continually searches for the best cup of coffee around.

Community Information

Odessa and Montour Falls are small Schuyler County villages located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region in New York State. According to the 2010 census, the village of Odessa has an approximate population of 591; the town of Montour, 2,446; and the village of Montour Falls, 1,797. The total population of Schuyler County is slightly less than 18,500.

Although the communities are small, attractions including Seneca Lake, beautiful waterfalls, Watkins Glen International Raceway, many estate wineries, the natural beauty of Schuyler County, and superb recreational facilities draw thousands of tourists to the area every year.

The region offers a variety of recreational opportunities. Boating and sailing are just minutes away. Hunting and fishing also are popular activities. Facilities for tennis, golf, cross-country skiing and ice skating also are available. Downhill skiers can find their way to Greek Peak in about an hour’s time.

There are several local town and state parks. The parks, including Havana Glen, are beautiful and offer excellent hiking trails, camping and picnicking. The Finger Lakes National Forest is a short drive away and has some the best and longest trails in the region.

Watkins Glen International Raceway draws a number of tourists from all over the country. You can expect a race, car show or some other fun activity going on nearly every weekend in the summer. The The Finger Lakes Wine Festival also is hosted at the track.

Major employers in the area include Schuyler Hospital, Welliver McGuire, Cargill, Wagner Hardwoods and US Salt. A number of residents commute to other large institutions such as world-known Cornell University in Ithaca and Corning Incorporated in Corning, which are approximately 25 miles away.
