Growing Sustainability Here at Odessa-Montour 🌱🐛🐥
Our students are getting a hands-on lesson in agriculture, sustainability, and the power of innovative thinking through collaboration between the classroom and the Grizzly Grub Hub!
Instead of letting spoiled or unused food go to waste, we’re turning it into opportunity:
➡️ Food scraps are used to feed mealworms
➡️ Mealworms become a sustainable protein source
➡️ Those mealworms help nourish baby chicks in Ms. Walsh’s classroom 🐥
There's more!...
➡️The shredded paper for the chicks comes from the Main Office
This full-circle system shows students how waste can become a resource, connecting real-world agriculture practices with environmental responsibility.
Through this experience, students are learning:
✅ The importance of reducing food waste
✅ How ecosystems and food chains work
✅ Responsibility and care for living things

BCC students had a blast at our annual Fire Truck Day! Thank you to all that could attend!

📚✨ Bringing Literature to Life! ✨📚
Today, English students had the opportunity to experience classic American literature beyond the classroom through a field trip to the Clemens Center and Elmira College.
Students attended a captivating one man performance of The Great Gatsby, where they were impressed by the actor’s ability to bring multiple characters to life through unique voices, mannerisms, and storytelling while staying true to the original work.
The group also visited the Center for Mark Twain Studies at Elmira College’s Gannett-Tripp Library, where they explored historical artifacts connected to Mark Twain, including his traveling trunk and the study where he wrote some of his most famous works.
It was an engaging and memorable experience that helped deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of classic American literature.
