As families prepare for trick-or-treating, a few simple precautions can help make the evening fun and safe for everyone.

🧡 Wear costumes that fit properly and allow for clear visibility.
🔦 Carry a flashlight or wear reflective gear when walking after dark.
🚸 Use sidewalks and cross streets at designated crossings.
🍬 Check treats before enjoying them.

Have a safe and happy Halloween, Odessa-Montour! 🎃👻

Review Treats Together – Take time to inspect candy and treats before they are eaten. The Odessa-Montour “OM” logo appears at the bottom of the graphic. The design uses fall colors including orange, cream, black, and yellow, with a friendly Halloween theme focused on community safety. 🎃👻🧡

🛠️ Technology Education at OMHS 🛠️
🎨 DDP (Design & Drawing for Production)

Students are continuing to make progress on their custom camp chair projects! This week focuses on construction, sanding, staining, and adding personalized finishing touches - like using our laser engraver. As projects move closer to completion, students are evaluating their designs, making adjustments, and documenting how their final products compare to their original plans.

🔥 Tech 7

Tech 7 students are wrapping up their wood-burning projects and beginning to learn about laser engraving technology. They are exploring the history of technology, practicing how to find and cite Creative Commons images, and completing laser engraver training. Students are also researching important inventions and innovators to better understand how technology shapes our world.

📐 Tech 8

Students are completing their personalized nameplate projects and beginning to explore careers in technology and skilled trades. In class, they are reflecting on their interests and strengths while researching career pathways. Students are also beginning their next woodworking project by creating designs, sketches, and proposals for custom wooden plaques.

🐻Learning by Doing

From woodworking and laser engraving to design planning and career exploration, our technology students are building creativity, problem-solving skills, and confidence through hands-on learning experiences. We can't wait to see their projects come to life. Go Grizzlies!

🍂 Fall weather is here, and temperatures can change quickly throughout the day.

As part of Safety Week, we encourage families to help students dress for the weather by layering clothing, bringing a light jacket or sweatshirt, and wearing appropriate footwear for outdoor activities and bus rides.

A little preparation goes a long way in helping students stay comfortable, healthy, and ready to learn.

Together, we can help keep every Odessa-Montour student safe this fall. 🍁🧥

💻 Every Click Counts.

At Odessa-Montour, safety extends beyond the classroom and into the digital world.

This week, we encourage families and community members to take a moment to talk about safe and responsible technology use at home:

✅ Protect personal information and use strong passwords.
✅ Think before clicking links, opening messages, or sharing information online.
✅ Be kind and respectful in every digital interaction.

The choices we make online matter. By building positive digital habits together, we can help our students grow into smart, safe, and kind digital citizens.

🩺 Safety Week: Healthy Schools Start with Healthy Habits

One of the best ways to keep our schools safe is to help prevent the spread of illness. When students or staff are sick, staying home and allowing time to recover helps protect classmates, coworkers, and families throughout our community. The CDC recommends that schools encourage sick individuals to stay home and follow clear return-to-school guidance to help reduce the spread of illness.

As we recognize Safety Week, let's work together to:

✅ Stay home when sick
✅ Follow school health guidance for returning to school
✅ Practice good hygiene and healthy habits
✅ Help keep our classrooms healthy and ready for learning

A heartfelt thank you to Schuyler County Public Health and our wonderful school nurses for caring for our families and helping our community stay healthy. Your dedication, expertise, and support make a difference every day.

A safe school is a healthy school. Thank you for partnering with us to support the well-being of everyone in our district.
